What is the current state of online poker?
For U.S players, online poker has virtually been shut down. with the exception of a few pros who currently reside outside the U.S. online poker is gone from players in the U.S. Myself being a poker player and someone who used to play online, i am waiting for the day when congress legalizes online poker.
The U.S. players will swarm back to their favorite websites, re-activating accounts and getting back into the game. I yearn to be playing online again, just like in England, Spain, Canada, pretty much any country outside the U.S. Congress needs to realize that they are missing out on a gold mine of taxes. The U.S. is way behind other countries. We Struggle to get out of this hole that we have buried ourselves into and yet we still will not pass a law that will generate untold billions of dollars in tax revenue. The U.S. is so politically correct that we are afraid to pass laws because someone might be offended. if you don’t like gambling or sports betting, great! Just because it is ok to do it doesn’t mean you have too. Alcohol is legal yet i know many people who do not partake. I don’t understand how we are just a few years away from having marijuana legal yet so many people frown upon online gaming.
One thing i think about is maybe it isn’t the people who are against it. Maybe a little city in the desert might have lobbyists on their side to prevent it. I mean, if you can gamble and play any game you want, any stakes, anytime, would there be a need for you to book that hotel room, purchase the airline ticket, take time off work. Could it be that little city in the desert is afraid their bottom line will suffer if less people visit? That is just my opinion. I really don’t think legal online gaming would hurt them. Actually i know it wouldn’t. i can’t wait for the day i can play poker online again. When that day comes, i will still make those trips to that little city in the desert. I guess for the time being i will be old school and go to my local card room. Speaking of that i better get going. To all of you in jolly old England, enjoy having that luxury of playing online.
I know i can speak for everyone here across the pond when i say we are on the edge of our seats waiting to get back online.
